No. 15 Columbia Leads CVC as Teams Head Into Conference Play

The 2025-26 Central Valley Conference men's basketball schedule officially gets underway on Wednesday (Jan. 7) with eight teams battling for a CVC championship and automatic bid into the Northern California Regional Playoffs.

Columbia College leads a pack of four teams off to a solid start in non-conference play. The Claim Jumpers, ranked No. 15 in this week's CCCMBCA State Poll, tops the CVC with a 10-4 overall record.

After dropping its opening game of the season, the Claim Jumpers went on to win eight straight. Columbia heads into conference play after a 90-81 victory at Gavilan College on Friday.

College of the Sequoias and Reedley College are both 9-5 after their non-conference schedules. Sequoias is ranked No. 28 in this week's state poll and will look to bounce back from consecutive losses.

Reedley put together a seven-game winning streak earlier this season and will look to crack the state rankings.

Lemoore is all even at 7-7 heading into Wednesday's CVC action. The Golden Eagles have won five of their last six games after opening the season with a 2-6 record.

Fresno City College (5-9), Merced College (3-11), Porterville College (3-11), and Coalinga College (2-12) will all look to turn things around and make some noise in conference play.

Wednesday's night opening-night matchups include:
Merced at Porterville
Columbia at Fresno City
Lemoore at Reedley
Coalinga at Sequoias
